What is the “edge”? As defined to me early on in life it is important to hone one’s own “edge.” It is that “fourth gear” that you find deep within yourself when things are bleak and challenging. For me, I found and unlocked my “edge” in competition growing up at an early age playing sports. I remember during a basketball game in grade school, we were down 9 points in the third quarter. I was beat down and winded beyond belief. I was optimistic, yet my gas tank was empty. The coach, my father, looked at me and said, “find your edge this next quarter…unlock that fourth gear…” and so I did. Something in that last quarter clicked in my head and there was no quit to encompass my mind. I dug deep and helped lead our team to a win.
